Radiall AEP is an independent manufacturer of sub-miniature coaxial connectors used in radio frequency and microwave applications. The company, founded in 1973 as Applied Engineering Products, has operated from a New Haven manufacturing facility since 1989. It was acquired by Radiall, a French connector manufacturer, in 2005. The New Haven manufacturing facility has since been expanded to accommodate the growing demand for its products. Today, it employs more than 200 workers. Its customers include both civilian and military entities.

Gelato Giuliana is one of the fastest-growing gelato makers in the United States.  The company, founded by serial entrepreneur Giuliana Maravalle, was originally opened to make the gelato served in Giuliana’s New Haven restaurant.  Demand for the product grew so much that the company moved into 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Longwharf in New Haven.  Today, Gelato Giuliana, using old-world standards of quality, is taking over the New World as more businesses sample the product.

BoldWood Interiors is a specialty millwork company that designs and builds bars and cabinetry for taverns, restaurants and other businesses.  The company’s products can be found as far away as Dubai, United Arab Emirates.   Founded as a residential cabinetry company in 1981, BoldWood began specializing in the commercial market in 1991.  The company moved to New Haven in 2005.  Recently, BoldWood became the North American representative for Ateliers Nectoux, one of only two French companies that manufacture zinc countertops in the French bistro tradition.

Something Sweet has a new recipe for success in the bakery business.  A private-label baker, it provides grocers the specialty products they want.  Opened in New Haven in 1997, Something Sweet serves retailers from Maine to Florida.  A key ingredient to its growth has been flexibility. It makes 140 different varieties  of cream pies, fruit pies, merengues, cakes, brownies and specialty items

SARGENT Manufacturing Company moved to New Haven in 1864 and remains at the center of life-safety and security innovation for door hardware. Acquired by ASSA ABLOY in 1996, SARGENT is the company's center of excellence for electro-mechanical research and development for locks, panic bars and other hardware. Once a maker of 60,000 different products, SARGENT today focuses on commercial door opening solutions.

Vespoli USA built its state-of-the-art plant to build racing shells in 1986.  Founder Mike Vespoli, who started rowing as a team walk-on at Georgetown University, has dedicated his life to better, faster boats.  Vespoli was the first to combine naval architecture and hydrodynamics expertise to design a revolutionary shell.  The resulting Vespoli boats have won countless gold, silver and bronze medals in rowing competitions worldwide.

Hummel Bros. Quality Meat Products has been a New Haven landmark since 1933, when brothers Robert and William Hummel borrowed $1,000 to buy an old sausage company on Congress Avenue.  Today, the company makes hot dogs, sausages, cold cuts, spiral-cut hams, corned beef, pastrami and other products. While its products are easily available at retail throughout the Northeast, its reputation has spread across the nation.

When Air France Flight 358 crashed in 2005, fabric made by Uretek Inc. – used in the plane’s evacuation slides – allowed all 309 passengers and crew members to escape without serious injury.  The New Haven company is a global leader in polyurethane coated fabrics and composites.  Its customers include defense, aerospace, healthcare and recreation companies.  Its solutions can be found in everything from flame retardant clothes to blimps.
